Education

India is a country with a large (as we have learned in math’s) ‘Gradient’.
Albeit we are in the upper/middle echelon, battling to keep up with the new emerging technologies, hi-tech applications, flat world avenues, knowledge...They are living a life next to us thinking of nothing more than tomorrow.
So when we decided to work for the 25 eco-clean women working in our campus, we thought of all the topics we can discuss from AIDS to Savings to General awareness.

In our first interaction, I asked them “What would they like to know? Answer was “How to Sign?”
We found out that they were not able to open up their bank accounts as they couldnt sign.
I was taken aback. While signing comes to me naturally like eating and talking, these women have never written those words of dignity. A fingerprint got them everywhere but failed when it came to opening their bank accounts.

So, we decided to organize weekly sessions to teach them their SIGN and bring awareness for saving money when their accounts start. Initially getting volunteers was easier than convincing the women to spend 1 hour for our session.
However now, we are successfully conducting  our session for "Paisa bachoo".

We wait every saturday to see that smile which comes on their face after learning something new, something valuable, something worth telling their families :)
